Jerry Veon was the only child of Robert S. Veon and Bessie D. Selzer. He was very interested in music and dance. Jerry was killed in a 1948 automobile accident when the car he was riding in, driven by his father was hit head-on, by a drunk driver and Jerry was thrown from the vehicle and hit a telephone poll. (There were no seat belts in those days). He, with his dancing partner and others were on their way to entertain wounded soldiers at the veteran's hospital. Jerry was 14-years old. His father, Bob Veon never fully got over it and, I think he always carried the blame for the accident. But in fact, it was the fault of the drunk who hit them.
